Quantum Key Distribution
Classical encryption alone is no longer sufficient to withstand emerging quantum threats. The system is built on the QKD BB84 protocol, using a single‑photon source (photo credit: Benjamin Yuen). Classical and even post‑quantum cryptography cannot guarantee that data in transit will remain confidential forever. Scalable quantum computers are becoming feasible and create a “harvest now, decrypt later” threat where intercepted data today may be decrypted in the future.
